Solid Rock Christian Church
August 2008 Newsletter
By: Craig Rippy
The leadership of the three congregations have decided that we should slow the process of full unity. We do have some differences that need to be worked out, and feel it will take more time, than first considered, to do so.
As we continue to have periodic unity meetings we will enjoy having certain events together. On Wednesday August 6th, at 7:30 PM, after our Wednesday evening Bible study, we will meet at the Forest City Christian Church building to hear Eddie Bazin of Preaching Christ to the Multitudes. He will tell of the great things the Lord is doing in Haiti.
On August 24, at 6:00 PM, St. James Christian Church is having an Ice Cream Social that Forest City and Solid Rock are invited to attend.
Having events like these will help us to get to know each other better and develop a good, working relationship. Please avail yourself to these opportunities of fellowship.
Having a better grasp of our situation means we plow ahead in the business of Jesus as Solid Rock Christian Church.
1) We need to be inviting the children who attended VBS and their families to church services.
2) We need to continue to work on our parking lot.
3) We need to increase our giving so we can evangelize more strategically in St. James.
4) We need to increase our giving so we can accommodate the growth of SRCC by proceeding with our building plan.
5) We need to better organize our ministries so we can be the spiritual force God wants us to be - Winning, Growing and Loving.
Also, we need to be very thankful to the Lord for blessing our Vacation Bible School program. It is Wednesday, the middle of VBS, as I write this. Thus far, we have had over 114 children each night with 128 on Monday. Our great helpers have come in great numbers as well. Without the helpful servants, we could never accomplish this big, fun and elaborate event. THANKS!
Now, we need to make the most of VBS by inviting the kids and their families to attend SRCC. Everyone needs Jesus and this event introduces Him to many, but we must follow-up. Lets seek the lost and share the message of salvation.

July 11 we had our Secret Sister Banquet. And we had a very good time of fellowship with the other women. Ladies it is a time where you can learn a lot from one another and can have that closeness with the other ladies in the church. It is a good thing to join in the secret sister. Secret sister is a good feeling to know you have someone praying for your needs everyday and your health. So come on ladies join us in the Secret Sister this year. It is a lot of fun. Don’t forget, we save BEST CHOICE LABELS and ALUMINUM CANS to help with various projects. The Cookie Drop for this month is June Wynn. The VBS was a big success there was about 158 kids registered for the week. Lets see if we can do even better next year. That is a goal we can try for. It’s not too late for everyone to start planning for the Annual SRCC Family Camp at Gasconade Christian Service on August 29 and 30. We have the whole camp to ourselves including swimming pool, basketball, volleyball, etc. It’s really fun so plan on being there! There is an Ice Cream Social at the St. Christian Church August 17 at 6:00. And there will still be church service that night. Come on Ladies lets go to the WOW meeting on August 25 at 6:30 at Rick and Jena Huizinga’s house it will be lots of fun. For fellowship and games. Come on Men join the Men/s Fellowship “F-Troop” on Aug. 4th and Aug. 18th . It is a great time to have fellowship with each other. There will be a “Meet Trent Hanson” Baby Shower on Sunday August 3 at 5:00 p.m at the church building. Everyone Invited. Church announcements should be given to Craig by the Wednesday before the Sunday they need announced. Eddie Bazin, missionary to Haiti, will be at Forest City Christian Church on August 24.
