"What a Summer"

By: Craig Rippy

After class promotions the Summer became busy. Five sessions of Church Camp, a week of Vacation Bible School and Christ In Youth fill up June and July nicely. There are plenty of ministry opportunities for all.

Camp was great. Brian worked one week, Gola served two weeks and I worked two weeks. We sent several youth. Camp is a great time for our kids to get away from the stress of everyday life and enjoy a non-threatening Christian atmosphere. Each week is centered around an interesting theme which directs the campers to God. They all have opportunities to either accept Christ or grow in Christ. They also get to have a whole lot of fun.

Vacation Bible School was directed primarily by Alan and Cathy Wynn. Yet, they had lots and lots of help. The TrueRassic Park program was great. We had great decorations, skits, lessons, lab times, snacks and recreation. From the registration to the final cleanup the servants of Solid Rock proved to be excellent. By the way the kids responded it seems they really enjoyed the dinosaur theme.

Christ in Youth trips are always anticipated highly by youth and sponsors. Tim Gola and Jena Huizinga are with our teens in Carbondale, IL as you read this newsletter. Please pray for the sponsors to have the energy to keep up with the teens. Also pray for the teens to gain greater spiritual wisdom from the lessons they will receive this week.

What next? Yes, school is starting soon. The eleventh of August our public school will begin. We will have two students at Central Christian College of the Bible beginning the 18th of August. Several others will be attending various colleges and universities. We should remember them all in our prayers.

Friday and Saturday the 28th and 29th of August we will have our SOLID ROCK FAMILY CAMP. This is always a fun time of talking, swimming, playing games, eating, devotion, and prayer time. If you've never attended one of these you can ask anyone who has and they will tell you its worth the trip to the Gasconade Christian Service Camp grounds to attend.

After family camp things seem to slow down and we all get back into some routine. The Solid Rock Preschool begins the 7th of September and with that many new children and their families are introduced to the Ministry of Solid Rock. Diane Daniel and her fantastic crew of teachers, aids, and grandmas do a great job of showing the children God's love. Lets offer prayer for a preschool filled with many victories for Jesus.

The Summer rundown is a precursor to the fall Ministry. There is lots of ministry to accomplish and more in the years to come. Which brings us to the Master Plan. Diane Daniel, Rick Huizinga, Rhea Pitts, Doug Daniel, Betty Grotha, Rod Edwards, Gene Scantlin, Alan Wynn and I are all prepared to take your suggestions for our Master Plan.

Dream away. What would you like to see in building, parking, and storage? What is necessary for you to accomplish your ministry? What kind of facility will we need in ten years? Give your ideas, in written form, to the ministry leaders mentioned. Goodman Architectural Services is waiting on us. Yet, we want your ideas. Please get them to these folks as soon as possible. You are the Solid Rock Servants of God and you know what you need to do the ministry you are doing and want to do in the future.
