Why in this world are we having a VBS Program on Dinosaurs??

I think to fully embrace the "whys" of this particular VBS program, we must first understand what the "world" is teaching about dinosaurs to our children.

The scientific community has been teaching as "Scientific Fact" that dinosaurs are billions of years old and have been extinct for billions of years. In teaching this, they have undermined the truth of the Word of God and have caused uninformed and apathetic Christians to compromise a basic foundational truth about our earth.

This earth that God created, and by the Word of God we are told that He created it and all other parts of creation in 6 days, is a fact that we must accept by faith.

This means that we must trust that God did not have the help of evolution and did not need billions of years to accomplish it and if we believe God, we must also believe that this earth and all of the rest of creation must not be billions of years old but is only several thousand years of age.

Why is it so important to believe this? If we don't, we have totally destroyed the foundational truths of scripture and if that is the case, then the rest of scripture is worthless!!

Some may say that we can believe that creation and evolution can go hand in hand. That one really does not contradict the other. This idea is just a rationalization of our lack of understanding of the truth of God. If we are going to believe that man evolved from apes, then we must discount God's record of the creation of man.

If man evolved, then at what point did God place the soul of man in place?

God's word says that when He had made man, He breathed into him life and man became a living soul. Man is the only part of creation that God created to be a living soul. All other parts of creation were to be controlled and subdued by man.

One may say, "How did Noah get all those dinosaurs on the ark?" I would say that he probably took babies. Not too difficult to grasp and also not very profound. The Word only says that he took pairs of the unclean and 7's of the clean, it didn't say that they had to be adult animals. This is just an example of simple things to help us understand the fact that the Word of God is not in conflict with itself.

Get involved in the VBS program this year. There is always something for you to do and the beauty of it is that we can be a part of the great commission by participating in teaching the young people the truth of the plan of God and give them a good defense against those that would break down the foundational truth of God's word.
