Solid Rock Christian Church
June 2007 Newsletter
By: Alam Wynn
If we are to have an impact on lives around us, we must take the bold step to be recognized as a Child of God. Many times we as Christians have a tendency to act as if we are ashamed of the Savior that was willing to give his all for us. We look around and watch the world dying in sin and when the opportunity presents itself for us to offer the message that we have been entrusted with, we balk and refuse to allow those we may be closest to, to have the wonderful salvation that we enjoy. I believe that we don't do this maliciously but we do so out of fear of being rejected. We are not the one to be rejected! We are children of the King and we are, or at least we should be confident in our place in the Kingdom. There needs to be an urgency within us to embrace the mission we have been called to participate in.
The mission is really simple. As Jesus taught, the fields are white unto harvest, but He is looking for workers to be willing to go out and bring in the crops. John 4:34-37 says this 34"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true."
Our attitude must be as that of Jesus, to be constantly aware and about doing what the Father has laid out for us to do. For that to occur, however, we must recognize that each of us have been placed in our place in life, not for our own benefit, but for the benefit of the God of creation. I know, from my own perspective, that I many times selfishly believe that God has placed me in my little niche for my own selfish desires. I found, that for me I had to once again examine the gift that was given for me. I didn't deserve what Jesus did for me but that does not diminish the fact that He did give up all that is recognized as precious to him so we could have what we don't deserve!
The Apostle John makes a powerful statement in the first few verses of his first epistle. He makes the reader very aware of the fact the he was placed in his particular place in life so that he could be an eyewitness and share what Jesus had done for him. He also made it very clear that he was sharing it with all who would follow and read his message so that we could have fellowship with him and that his fellowship was with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. That message was to "make his joy complete!"
Many would consider John an oddball! He didn't live his life for his benefit, but for the benefit of all within his influence, to all that would hear his voice sharing the love of the Savior, Jesus Christ. His confidence in Christ caused him to have boldness to approach the throne of grace because he had embraced his place and calling in life!
Make your joy complete and be bold this month being all that God wants you to be. A messenger carrying the Word of Life to all you come in contact with!! Be a true harvester for the Kingdom of God!!
I love you all, Brother Alan
