Solid Rock Christian Church
November 2009 Newsletter
By: Craig Rippy
Printing and mailing the newsletter has become more expensive, as well. Usually it takes three pieces of paper per newsletter. Each are copied on both sides. This means the copier contract shows six copies per newsletter, and we must pay for that. Postage stamps presently are 44 cents. Sending 100 newsletter would mean spending $44, plus paper and copier cost.
This is why we have decided to make a change in the way we deliver the news of Solid Rock Christian Church. With an inexpensive method already being used, we can capitalize on it and make it even better.
We presently have our newsletter and other announcements posted on our web site (www.srcchurch.org). We also are sending it via email. The prayer chain seems to be working well with email. Many of our congregation have Internet accessibility and are becoming more proficient users of the web and their email.
Having said that, beginning January 2010, we will do more to publish the newsletter for the web site and to send it email to our members. This will cut our costs and make the information easy for your access when you want to access it. To do this, Debbie will need to have your email address.
Yet, we know that not everyone has the Internet available to them and even if they did would not choose to use it. So, we will make a few copies of the newsletter for pickup available at the church building at the greeter table. We may even send copies to those who are unable to attend due to health, etc. For this, Debbie would need your name and postal address.
The electronic age gives us great opportunity to send pertinent information with much more immediacy than a monthly newsletter. If an announcement has been missed during the accumulation and sending of a newsletter, we can send it to you to open at your convenience. Just as the email prayer chain does now, we can send things at 3 PM or 3 AM, and you can check your email as usual and be notified of things pertaining to SRCC.
Of course, Debbie Grotha is the Ministry Leader that makes sure we have the newsletter. If you have any thoughts about this change, please let Debbie know. She and those serving with her have been doing the best they can with the Newsletter, but it is a difficult job. With this innovation, we hope to have information streaming to us with more accuracy.
Like Debbie, other Ministry Leaders are working to achieve better ministry for God at Solid Rock Christian Church. Our Leadership Team is very pleased with our Ministry Leaders and their work to move SRCC to the next level of service, so Christ can be proclaimed and His people benefited.
Please consider serving by speaking with Myndee Albers or Shannon Gibson. (Myndee continues to be the Involvement Ministry Leader through December and Shannon will begin as Leader in January). Many areas of Christian service are available for you to work in.
